Hendrick is from Mokopane, Limpopo, in South Africa. He became aware of his inner artist at a young age, and in high school he drew inspiration from drawing; his textbooks were full of them. He struggled with focusing on school work, but through art he found a way to focus and connect. After a school teacher recognised his talent he decided to attend college and learn more about art. At first he was unsure of where to take his career, but then chose painting, as it always spoke to him.

A friend told him about the Little Artists School which he joined in 2016. He now uses his experience to guide children through art. When he sees a child having a hard time, he draws on what he was taught, and the blessing that he received. His work reflects the daily activities and human interactions that he witnesses in the township. He is often inspired to tell the stories of church-going women who help their communities. He aims to tell these stories… and to show people how to live a good, honest life.
